LEAVE at the end of six years; each Master is entitled to twelve months leave, of which the first two months and the vacation months February and August are at FULL pay, the remainder at Half Pay. The dollar is reckoned at 3/- while the Master is on leave or on pension in England.
PENSION at the age of 55, or after 10 years' service, if the Medical Board certify retirement necessary on account of mental or physical disability, the Master can retire on pension at the following rate, one-six- tieth of salary for every year's service Full Pay, with five-sixtieths added for Foreign Service.
WIDOWS AND ORPHANS FUND: 4% of the salary is by Ordinance deducted as a contribution to the support of this fund. COST OF LIVING Food and clothing are not dear in Hong Kong as compared with England, though they have risen in price during the last ten years. House rent is very high but bachelors can lodge with private families or form Messes with friends, when the cost of living should be moderate."
PRIVATE PUPILS.
Assistant Masters may, with the con-
sent of the Governing Body, take private pupils. There is a fairly steady demand for tutors in Hong Kong amongst Germans and the families of Naval and Military Officers, also in connexion with the Oxford Local Examinations. PROMOTION to the second grade when opportunity may offer will be considered on the personal merits of the Masters in the First Grade.
